Lord of the Rings Quotes

“I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew:
Of wind I sang, a wind there came and in the branches blew.
Beyond the Sun, beyond the Moon, the foam was on the Sea,
And by the strand of Ilmarin there grew a Golden Tree.

Beneath the stars of Ever-eve in Eldamar it shone,
In Eldamar beside the walls of Elven Tirion.
There long the golden leaves have grown upon the branching years,
While here beyond the Sundering Seas now fall the Elven-tears.

O Lórien! Too long I have dwelt upon this Hither Shore
And in a fading crown have twined the golden elanor.
But if of ships I now would sing, what ship would come to me,
What ship would bear me ever back across so wide a Sea?”
-The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

  1. I love this poem!

In the Lord of the Rings musical, the song "Wonder" uses parts of it. :) Here's a link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-1FhQkKiJ8

    1. It's one of my favorites also!

Lord of the Rings...musical? *eyes widen*
I've heard rumors of this, but it's actually a thing?? Must...watch...

    2. Yes, it is a thing. Or was. It hasn't played in a while, but they're preparing for a tour. It's very different from the movies, and it has a totally different idea of elves and ents, but it's fascinating nonetheless. My favorite songs are 'Lothlorien', starring Legolas and Galadriel, 'Song of Hope (Duet)', starring Arwen and Aragorn, and 'Wonder', starring Galadriel. But Sam and Frodo's song 'Now and For Always' is wonderful too. :)

  2. Also a favorite. The loss and longing are palpable as is the acknowledgment that Lorien is only a copy and temporary substitute for Elven-Home.
