Lord of the Rings Quotes

"At last Fingon stood alone with his guard dead about him; and he fought with Gothmog, until another Balrog came behind and cast a thong of fire about him. Then Gothmog hewed him with his black axe, and a white flame sprang up from the helm of Fingon as it was cloven. Thus fell the High King of the Noldor; and they beat him into the dust with their maces; and his banner, blue and silver, they trod into the mire of his blood."

Thank you :) I spent about an hour trying to pick out the right header and finally settled on this one.

  2. Oh, this broke my heart when I read the Silmarillion, among other things. What a great picture to represent that scene! I love Middle Earth art. Of course, judging from the text, it probably would have been a lot more gruesome than that- but what's the point in painting gore when the heart already knows the sorrow?

    1. Fingon was such an amazing character--everytime I read this quote I think of him saving Maedhros and how incredible he was :'(

Middle-earth art is always amazing--but I can't find a source for this particular painting which is seriously perturbing me...what if this artist has other work I'm missing out on? D:

If you want more Tolkien art, I would recommend Joe Gilronan art: http://joegilronanlordoftherings.blogspot.com

Personally, I am a bit squeamish, so I'm okay with this art holding back a bit!
